Opera Browser is a long-running browser that is not popular to much but used a lot of people. Opera provides different user experience than Google Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. In this tutorial, we will learn how to install Opera Browser to the Windows and Linux operating systems.
Opera Features

Download and Install Opera For Windows Operating System
We will start with the installation of the Opera to the Windows operating systems like Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016.
Download Opera Browser
The Opera browser for Windows can be downloaded from the following link. This will start the download of the OperaSetup.exe

Start Installation
We can start the installation by clicking OperaSetup.exe
and follow the instructions. We can see in the following screenshot that Opera provides very easy and simple installation options where we only need to click the Install
button.

During installation, files will be extracted, registered and installed properly.

After the installation is complete the Opera Browser will start automatically. We will see the following screen where it is a way different from other browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge.

We can install Opera Browser into different Linux distributions like Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, CentOS etc.

Some browsers like Google Chrome can interpret downloaded opera-stable.deb
file as malicious or suspicious. We have to click Keep
button in order to save the installation file.

Start Installation
We have downloaded the installation file and start the installation process. We will use the terminal or command line shell in order to install Opera. We will navigate to the path where we have downloaded the Opera Browser. We will use dpkg
tool for Ubuntu based installation which can install deb
packages. We also need root privileges which can be obtained with the sudo
command like below.
$ sudo dpkg -i opera-stable_60.0.3255.27_amd64.deb

During installation, we will be asked to add the Opera repository to the current system with the following screen. We will select Yes
which means Opera Software updates will be checked with the apt-get update
or apt update
command.

After the installation is complete we can open Opera Browser from Application Menu or just typing opera
to the terminal or shell-like below.
$ opera
