Windows Photo Viewer do not exist on Windows 10 operating systems. Even Windows 10 provides a lot of new and alternative applications for viewing photos the Windows photo viewer provided with the Windows 7 and Windows 8 is the most popular photo viewing application. In this tutorial we will learn how to access and make the old Windows Photo Viewer app by default on the Windows 10 operating system.
There is two case to make photo viewer as the default application. First is the Windows 10 users who upgraded from Windows 7 or Windows 8 and the second case is the Windows 10 user where Windows 10 installed from sctratch.
If You Are Upgraded From Windows 7 and Windows 8 To Windows 10
If you are upgraded from the Windows 7 or Windows 8 it is more easy to make Windows Photo Viewer as the default app. As the Windows 7 and Windows 8 provides the Windows Photo Viewer we will just change the default Photo application to it. First we will open the Default Apps from the Windows Settings->System ->Default Apps or by using the start button and typing Default apps like below.
We will navigate to the Photo viewer part of the default apps. We will select the Windows Photo Viewer as default application easily.
If You Installed Windows 10 From Sctratch
If you are installed Windows 10 from scratch by default the Windows Photo Editor will not enabled and accessible. So we will make some registry magic or configuration in order to enable Windows Photo Editor. We will use the following registry script. We will double click to the downloaded registery file. The following screen will be shown where we will clickto the Yes in order to run registery script to run as Administrator.
As registery is important part of the Windows operating system we will see the following questionarry simply ask us wheter we are sure to continue. We will click to the Yes.
When the registry operating is completed successfully we will see the following message.
Make Photo Viewer As Default
Now you can use the Default Apps configuration to make Windows Photo Viewer as default photo application.
