Today’s internet provides a lot of different web sites and web applications. In daily life, we use a lot of different web applications which is personalized for us. While using these applications we generally use some login information for authentication, privacy, and personalization.
Saving Passwords To Browser
While using these web applications we need to provide some credentials which consist of username and password. As we use a lot of different applications remembering their user name passwords is very hard. We generally need to save or store these passwords in secure places. The secure places can be a password manager, text file, or web browsers. Web browsers are generally the most practical and easy way. Popular web browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Safari provides managing, saving, viewing passwords functionality.
Mozilla Firefox
Mozilla Firefox provides the ability to save passwords in its secure vault and view, remove them properly.
List Saved Passwords
First, we will open the password manager for Mozilla Firefox and list saved passwords.
Open Preferences
In order to manage, list saved passwords we will open the Preferences
. We can open preferences in different ways but the most practical one is using about:preferences
in the address or URL bar like below.

Click Privacy&Security
Saved passwords can be accessed from the Privacy&Security
which is listed right side menu or scrolling down the preferences page.

Open Saved Logins
Saved passwords are stored in the Saved Logins
form which can be accessed from the Logins and Passwords
part like below.

View Saved Password
Here we will see the saved passwords with information like Site
, Username
and Last changed
.

Delete Saved Password
We can delete a single saved password by selecting from the list and clicking Remove
button. This will only delete the selected or specified password for the given site. We can also delete or remove all saved password with the Remove All
button.

Google Chrome
List Saved Passwords
In order to list saved passwords we have to open the Passwords
. Passwords can be opened in different ways like from Profile
or with the following address in the address bar.

Open Passwords menu From Profile

We will see the Passwords
menu as below. We can see that there is an option Offer to save passwords
that will used to automatically ask password saving. But as we can see it is disabled currently. Auto Sign-in
will automatically sign in when we navigate a web page which password is already saved in our password list.

View Saved Password
As a security measure, all saved password is shown as masked with the points like below. We can view all readily saved passwords by click to the eye icon right side of the password column. Passwords are securely saved in Google Chrome where in order to access them we have to provide administrator rights of the current system. The administrator can be Administrator
, root
or another privileged user.

Remove/Delete Saved Password
We can remove/delete saved passwords. In order to delete a specific password, we will click to the last column menu like below which will show a Remove
button which is used to remove the specific password.

Microsoft Edge / Internet Explorer
We list saved passwords in Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer.
List Saved Passwords
First we will open Settings
from the right upper corner 3 dot menu.

In order to access the Manage Passwords
menu, we have to see more detailed settings from the Advanced Settings
menu like below. We will click to the View Advanced Settings
like below.

There we will navigate to the Autofill Settings
part which contains Manage Passwords
which we will click to.

We will the passwords on this page like below.
