I am using fedora 21 and running vms with kvm/libvirt. I have a lot of vms and generally they cannot get current. I want to update them regularly but this is time consuming and boring work. I prefer automated mechanism and here is what I use. I am using libguestfs tools and distro specific update tools like apt and yum. I run commands on vms. I have created script named vms-update and run it regularly. While running I get output about the running commands and use bash’s trace option. I connect to the localhost libvirt instance and run commands on vms/domains reside in libvirt.
